When corporate videos go bad

Today I came across this new video ‘promoting’ the graduate program at the Federal Department of Finance.

At first I thought it might be a really clever PR stunt (i.e. a brazen act of self-sacrifice in the hope of getting some attention). But apparently it’s actually much worse: it’s genuine, and uses real staff. I’m sure it looked great on paper.

File under: so bad it’s good.

*Update 02/03/17*

It’s gone viral! When I published this post yesterday (after seeing comments about it on Twitter) the video had about 900 views. Now it has over 100,000 views on the official channel, plus probably multiple times that from the vast coverage of it by various media outlets. Maybe it was a brilliant PR stunt after all! (But probably not.)

Mumbrella has a great scene-by-scene commentary on the plot.
